Garmin Nuvi 310D

The Garmin Nuvi 310D is a comprehensive and versatile satellite navigation system. Yet it is more than just a satnav system.

The Garmin Nuvi310D is more of a personal travel assistant. Not only does it carry out its' primary satellite navigation function it also translates, entertains and communicates.

The Nuvi310D has a bright and clear 3.5-inch colour screen through which the touch-sensitive menu is controlled. The unit comes with a Li-Ion inbuilt rechargable battery and should give between 4 and 8 hours of navigation depending on operational conditions.

The unit normally comes with all installation requirements (suction cups etc.) included and can be transferred between vehicles to maximise its use - ideal for a family to share.

The 310D has Bluetooth capabilities, allowing the user to make hands-free telephone calls via a Bluetooth mobile phone (available separately!). Numbers can be dialled via the "numberpad" displayed on the Nuvi310D's touch-screen and calls can be easily answered in a similar way. You can call numbers stored in your phones' memory as well as numbers in the phones' call history log.

The system comes with a pre-installed Points of Interest (POI) database, containing contact details - if you're running late use the 310D to find a local hotel and then call that hotel direct from the 310D using the Bluetooth facility.

As well as the preloaded POI's additional personal POI's can also be installed using the POI Loader software available from the Garmin website. The user can load speed camera, safety camera, school zone etc databases to make the journey safer not only for the user and their passengers, but also for other pedestrians and road-users.

Destinations are easy to programme into the Nuvi 310D using the full postcode look-up facility.

The Nuvi 310D comes pre-loaded with City Navigator mapping for UK and Ireland.

It is also possible to add real-time traffic information to the Nuvi 310D using the optional GTM 11 FM TMC.

This is a good system and represents excellent value for money.
