Garmin StreetPilot C510

The new Garmin StreetPilot C510 comes ready to use straight out the box - no need to install any software or maps - just plug and play.

The new C500 series delivers the same easy to use navigational tools as the previous C300 range but with a number of improvements to make journey's even less stressful.

The highly sensitive GPS receiver represents a step forward. The unit is quick to acquire satellite signals and hold them, especially when driving in areas where signals can be lost - cities, woodland etc.

The colour TFT LCD screen is anti-glare to aid driver use in bright sunlight. Touch sensitive, the C510 is operated through a series of easy to use menus.

Theft of satnavs from vehicles is an increasing problem and the new C500 series goes some way to make this more difficult. The units now use the Garmin Lock technology - this disables the unit from use until the user enters a 4 digit PIN to unlock it or takes the unit to a pre-determined location.

Regional European mapping is included (check with the online merchant to see which mapping options are shipped with the C510 - bundles can vary - ensure the one you buy matches your requirements)

The unit contains a rechargeable battery that Garmin suggest has an 8 hour life between charges. The actual time will depend on the amount of work the unit has to do and the ambient conditions, temperature, number of user interactions etc.

Maps can be viewed from a 2D and 3D perspective. A card slot has been built-in to the unit take SD memory cards. This allows the user to expand the memory of their unit.

Additional Points of Interest can be uploaded to the unit including alerts for speed zones and safety cameras to make your journey safer.

All in, this is a very capable unit and represents good value for money for the first-time user or those people moving up from a more basic system.
