Mio 268/268+

The Mio 268 is a good entry-level satellite navigation system and has an integrated GPS antenna to receive satellite signals.

All maps come pre-loaded on memory cards - simply plug the unit in, insert the memory card into the SD slot and away you go. Additional memory cards can also be purchased separately - try Amazon.

The MioMap CE software is based on Navigon's Mobile Navigator 4 and the unit can be controlled using either the touch-screen controls or the hardware buttons on the unit.

The unit also has a POI (Points of Interest) database showing locations for hotels, petrol stations etc. local to your current position, wherever that may be. Simply click on the type of location you seek and the MIO 268 will navigate you from your current position to the chosen Point of Interest - ideal if you need to make an urgent detour for say fuel or cash.

Clear turn-by-turn voice instructions and visual map instructions guide you to your destination. The unit has a built-in speaker and rechargeable Li-Ion battery allowing the MIO 268 to be transferred easily and swiftly between vehicles.

Multiple destinations can also be input, ideal for someone who has to make a number of stops and wants to plan their journey in advance.

The Mio 268 comes preloaded with MP3 music playing software - simply pop in a SD or MMC card with your music stored on it and press play. Ideal for tunes on the move or whilst stationery.

The unit comes boxed with an external GPS antenna, in-car charger (cigarette lighter), AC adapter for use outside the vehicle, USB cable and suction-based windscreen mount.

Optional extras include a carry case, earphones, remote control and a bicycle mount.

The unit comes with map data for UK and Ireland. European maps are also available separately.
