Navman iCN 510The iCN-510 from Navman represents good value for money as a mid-priced unit. Expect to pay around the £200-mark for this unit although it is possible to buy it for slightly less. The unit is housed inside a tough, lightweight casing which houses the multi-directional GPS receiver and a high-resolution 3.5” screen. The screen is touch-sensitive so can be operated with the finger tip or pointer device for ease of use. The unit is controlled by using the responsive, categorised menu system but there is also an infra-red port for an optional remote control which allows control of the unit by the driver (when parked for safety reasons) and the front or rear-seat passengers. With its contemporary style, compact design and precision build quality the iCN-510 offers a wireless navigation system with features to make your journey easier and more enjoyable. Then unit is powered by the SmartST™ V3 navigation software. Voice guidance comes as standard, turn-by-turn voice directions are a must, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road ahead. The user can choose from the following languages: - English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Danish and Swedish. The unit normally comes with street-level maps for the region in which it is purchased and, as an added bonus, the major road maps for Western Europe are also supplied on a separate CD-ROM. These would include the motorways and “A and B” roads which should be sufficient to enable most motorists to navigate from town to town when driving on the Continent. As part of Navman's iCN transferable navigation series, the iCN510 still includes all the great features of previous iCN generations, such as back-on-track™ technology which recalculates a new route if you should stray off the current one, 3D-Map view, 5-digit postcode search, turn-by-turn voice instructions and “avoid areas” function. The Version 3.0 software enhances the iCN510 even further with a host of new navigation features for an even safer, stress free journey. The iCN-510 gives you leading edge navigation on-the-move. It can be used in-car or on-foot. As the system is not wired into the vehicle it can be transferred from one car to another, ideal for a family who want to share the ownership of such a useful piece of equipment. The sleek, lightweight design means it sits firmly in the palm of your hand and the responsive touch-screen enables you to effortlessly manage your journey, giving you total control over where you want to go.
