Navman iCN 550

The iCN 550 is one of Navman’s most comprehensive satellite navigation systems . It is driven by the very latest SmartST™ professional mapping software and is crammed with features to make your motoring stress-free and more enjoyable. The unit normally retails around the £500-£530 mark.

The iCN 550 has “Fuel" and "Park” buttons to allow you to quickly find the closest petrol station or car park. A new optional “Traffic Module” warns you in advance of traffic trouble spots ahead and allows you to choose alternative routes.

Voice-guided navigation, touch screen and a remote control are all included as standard to make your journey easier.

A new feature to SmartST™ is 'Active POIs' – points of interest. This function allows you to set an alarm to tell you when a particular POI is approaching and also allows you to navigate to the nearest one, for example the system will tell you when you are approaching the nearest petrol station, hospital etc.

Planning your journey couldn’t be simpler – the iCN-550 provides excellent journey planning information and measurement. Using the SmartST™ software the system can provide the following ongoing journey information - Expected time of Arrival, Distance to go, Distance to go to next turn, Time to go and Miles/Km to go. The information is automatically updated as the journey progresses. If you make good time on an open stretch of road then the estimated time of arrival will shorten; if you are stuck in traffic the ETA will lengthen.

The unit has a built in rechargeable battery and 12-channel parallel GPS receiver. The unit is self-contained and can be moved from one vehicle to another with ease.

Navman say that the user can download speed camera databases, other points of interest (POI) and additional maps and map data via the PC connection. These POI databases are available on the internet, some are free and others may charge a fee to download them.

The system has 5-digit postcode address search, 3D map and mini-map view, Back-on-track™ rerouting and 'Avoid area' traffic avoidance. A new feature to SmartST™ is multi-stop journey routing which allows you to plan a route from A to B to C and so on. You can also import your own points-of-interest personalising your iCN 550 with your own favourite petrol stations, safety cameras, sports grounds, restaurants etc...

The unit comes with a 4GB hard drive built-in for storing favourite destinations, POI databases etc.
