Navman iCN720

New from Navman is the iCN720.

Instead of having to remember addresses and locations it is now possible to navigate using pictures! The Navman iCN720 allows you to identify your destinations as pictures, rather than just names.

The iCN720 has a built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera. Additional geo-tagged pictures can also be imported by connecting the iCN720 to a PC. This is done using a USB cable.

The unit has a 4 inch-wide colour touchscreen. Street-level maps of the UK are included with the unit.

The iCN720 comes with "Fuel" and "Park" buttons as standard. These allow the user to quickly locate nearby car parking and petrol stations. The "Home" button routes the user to their home or office address.

The optional T1 Traffic Pack allows for real-time traffic and motoring information to be received by the iCN720. The traffic pack works in the UK, France and Germany. Once the T1 unit has been purchased no additional subscription payments are required. This is one of the main advantages of this unit over other systems.

Entering a destination is straight-forward - full UK postcodes can be entered as well as streets and towns.

Straying or being forced off course isn't a problem. The Back-on-Track software functionality automatically calculates a newly optimised route based on position at the time. Ideal if the user should accidentally take a wrong turn or becomes temporarily unaware of their position if satellite reception is temporarily lost due to buildings, trees, tunnels etc.

Also included with the iCN720 is a Points of Interest (POI) database. This covers various locations such as hospitals, restaurants, petrol stations, cashpoints etc. Lots of entries are included and additional POI's can be added by linking the iCN720 to a PC.

The keypad is backlit and the unit can be operated in an anti-glare night mode to avoid eye-strain when used after dark.

The unit comes with a built-in battery and the estimated battery life is between 2 and 4 hours depending on usage. This allows the unit to be transferred between vehicles for maximum flexibility. In-car and mains adapters are also both included in the pack.

Voice-guided instructions take the driver to their destination and the route can be viewed in the following modes:

Tele Atlas map data is used in conjunction with SmartST 2006 for iCN 700 navigation software.

This is a smart, comprehensive satellite navigation system. It adds a new dimension to in-car satellite navigation using pictures of your favourite destinations as well as an in-built camera and represents good value for money.
