TomTom ONE EUROPE

The TomTom ONE version 2 Europe was released in Autumn 2006 and is set to become a best-selling satnav unit in the UK market. The TomTom ONE is also available in a regional version - the TomTom ONE GB - which has mapping for Great Britain.

Version 2 of the TomTom ONE builds on the success of it's predecesor - the original TomTom ONE - a comprehensive and efficient entry-level satellite navigation system.

The TomTom ONE EUROPE is to all intents and purposes identical to the GB version - the mapping being the main difference. The TomTom ONE EUROPE comes with mapping for following countries and provinces:-

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City

The new TomTom ONE features a number of enhancements which will make any journey more enjoyable for both driver and passengers.

As with all other TomTom's, the new ONE EUROPE is "plug and go" and can be used straight out of the box. Controlling the TomTom ONE EUROPE is simple - all entries to the device are made using the touchscreen menu controls.

Using this menu, the user can quickly find destinations and plan routes in advance of their journey. The latest TomTom maps come stored on SD memory cards for use straight out of the box.

In common with the other TomTom's, the ONE EUROPE allows the user to determine how routes are calculated - shortest, quickest, avoiding toll roads and congestion charging areas.

The user can also plan their route based on their desired arrival time. This is a great new feature allowing the user to plan their time of departure from their current location.

The unit is housed in a new, sleek design and the bright, sharp screen has an anti-glare coating to aid use in bright sunlight.

The TomTom ONE comes with Bluetooth capabilities allowing the user to link a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone (available separately!) to their TomTom ONE.

Directions and instructions are voice-spoken and the volume of the unit automatically adjusts based on the speed of the car to ensure all directions are heard loud and clear.

The TomTom ONE is also compatible with TomTom PLUS services. This is a subscription service, used in conjunction with a Bluetooth mobile allowing the system to receive real-time traffic and weather information, thus allowing the system to calculate optimum route to destination taking into account conditions en-route. All things considered, this is a good system for those taking their first steps in in-car satellite navigation - TomTom are the market-leaders in the UK and the new TomTom ONE EUROPE only serves to reinforce this position
