The GO 500 from TomTom is a mid-range satellite navigation system. The unit comes ready to use – there is no need to link it to a personal computer. A mount is included to fix the unit to the vehicles windscreen or dashboard. With a price point around £300 - £360 the unit is aimed at the regular user.

TomTom GO 500 features a built-in GPS receiver that provides precise satellite navigation using the latest hardware and software available on the market. As the unit contains both the hardware, software and GPS receiver it can be taken out of the vehicle and used in a differnet vehicle very easily.

The TomTom GO 500 comes with a detailed map of your country connected to the Major Roads of Europe map all pre-installed on an SD card. The benefit of this is that you can go door-to-door across the entire country and easily navigate your way across most of Europe.

TomTom GO 500 is equipped with voice communication capabilities that enable it to be used as a hands-free kit for Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. By connecting to the driver's phone (sold separately) via Bluetooth wireless technology, the driver can take and make calls whilst navigating.

The GO 500 routes calls automatically from your mobile phone through the integrated speaker and microphone, while the screen continues to navigate you on your route.

The touch-screen is intuitive and your route can be planned with just a few taps on the screen.

At the end of your journey, simply turn the unit off with the click of one button and remove it from the vehicle.

The unit features a 3.5-inch screen that gives excellent visibility in any situation from bright sunlight to low-light conditions.

The user can choose between 3D maps and top down “birds-eye” view. The screen can also displays Estimated Time of Arrival, Distance to travel, time left to travel, distance to next turn point as well as a compass.

Powered by a Lithium-ion battery, the unit can be easily transferred between vehicles. A "cigarette-lighter" adapter is also provided.
